4th post — 2026JSCE annual meeting / 令和8年度土木学会全国大会
I attended the JSCE annual meeting in Sapporo during September 2-4 2026, where I served as the moderator and facilitator for a special international session, gave an oral presentation, and chaired a technical session. Two of my students, Mr. Tamaoki (M2) and Ms. Maehara, who graduated in March 2026 and is now in her first year as a working professional, also gave oral presentations. Sapporo was about 10℃ cooler than the main island of Japan, making the weather very pleasant and comfortable. We also enjoyed some of Hokkaido’s local specialities, including Jingisuka (grilled mutton), ramen, and late-night pafaits!
2026年9月2日～4日に土木学会全国大会@札幌に参加し，国際関連特別講演会の司会・進行，口頭発表，および座長業務を行いました．また，指導学生の玉置さん(M2)と前原さん(R8卒，現在社会人1年目)もそれぞれ口頭発表を行いました．札幌は本州に比べて10度ほど気温が低くてとても過ごしやすく，ジンギスカン・ラーメン・締めパフェなどを堪能しました！

3rd post — Seminar / セミナー
On Monday, June 8, 2026, I had the opportunity to give a research seminar titled “Micro-scale evolution of pore water characteristics in unsaturated sand under triaxial compression” at the geotechnical engineering group seminar of Politecnico di Milano. We received many insightful questions from various perspectives and had fruitful discussions on related topics, making it a very meaningful and valuable experience.
I would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended the seminar, as well as Dr. Katia Boschi for coordinating and organizing the event.
2026年6月8日（月）にミラノ工科大学の地盤工学分野グループセミナーにおいて「Micro-scale evolution of pore water characteristics in unsaturated sand under triaxial compression」というタイトルで研究紹介させていただきました．様々な視点から質問をいただき，関連トピックの議論を行うことができて有意義な時間となりました．
ご参加いただきた方々，またセミナー開催の調整をしていただいたKatia Boshi博士に感謝申し上げます．

2nd post — Award / 表彰
We received the best paper award from “地盤と建設”, the journal of the Chugoku Branch of the Japanese Geotechnical Society. The award ceremony was held on Friday, April 24, and Mr. Takeru Tamaoki (M2), the first author of the paper, attended the ceremony. Congratulations, Tamaoki-san! 地盤工学会中国支部論文報告集「地盤と建設」の論文賞を受賞しました．4月24日（金）に授賞式が行われ，第一著者の玉置尊さん（修士課程2年）が出席しました．玉置さん，おめでとうございます！これを励みに引き続きがんばりましょう．（論文はこちら）

1st post — Research stay abroad (April – July 2026) / 在外研究
For collaborative research with Politecnico di Milano, I will be staying in Milan from April 8 to July 2, 2026.
This project is based on the JSPS Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (Fund for the Promotion of Joint International Research (Fostering Joint International Research)) for the project entitled:
“Development of a Particle-Fluid Coupled Analysis Method for Predicting the Mud Film Formation Process Due to Slurry Infiltration”.
As a visiting researcher, I have been kindly provided with a private office and even some Polimi goods, and the people I will be working with are all extremely supportive and welcoming. I believe this will be an excellent environment for conducting research.
ミラノ工科大学との共同研究のため，2026年4月8日～7月2日までミラノに滞在します．
科研費・国際共同研究加速基金(国際共同研究強化)「研究課題：泥水浸潤による泥膜形成プロセスを予測する粒子－流体連成解析法の開発」のプロジェクトです．
客員教員として個室やPolimiグッズを用意していただき，共に研究する方々も非常に親身なので，良い環境で研究に取り組めそうです．
